LWVAC and SACE presentation announcement with photo of speaker
Thursday, April 7, 2022 - 12:00pm

The LWVAC is partnering with Southern Alliance for Clean Energy's Electrify the South program to host a webinar on ways to engage and transform our transportation systems to electric.

Register Now to Join Us on April 7th @ 12:00 PM!

The goal of the presentation is to more effectively engage the membership in practical advocacy supporting the adoption of electric vehicles (EV) by governments and the private sector. In general, we will be including EV background, debunking some myths, and asking government for specific actions.

Some possible specifics include:

  • advocating that the City of Gainesville and Alachua County: a) promote EV Readiness policies and codes, and b) electrify their fleets and public buses.
  • supporting legislation at the state and national levels that would expand charging infrastructure. (See SB 920.)
  • joining and otherwise supporting SACE and similar groups, including by responding to their action alerts.

Desired Outcome: After attending this webinar, League members contact Dory to develop a customized plan before contacting their local public officials.

Good news! League leaders and members are NOT expected to be content experts!
