The League of Women Voters of Pocatello held a virtual forum, “A 2023 Idaho Legislature Preview” on Tuesday, January 3 from 7 – 8:30 p.m MT. District 28 and District 29 legislators discussed their expectations on the issues and bills that are expected to come up during the 2023 legislative session.

Senator Jim Guthrie, and Representative Dan Garner represented District 28 while Representative Rick Cheatum declined to participate. District 29 was represented by Senator James Ruchti and Representative Nate Roberts while Representative Dustin Manwaring was unable to participate due to a scheduling conflict.

After brief introductions, the League moderator asked questions that were sent to the panelists at an earlier date. Topics including property taxes, education funding, water, energy, healthcare rights, criminal justice, and spending federal funding were discussed.
