Why and how can you join our grassroots organization?

We invite you to join the League of Women Voters! You will play a strong part in the League's work to protect and defend our democracy on the issues important to sustaining it. If you are interested in becoming a member of the League of Women Voters of Kootenai County, League of Women Voters of Lewis Clark Valley, League of Women Voters of Moscow or the League of Women Voters of Pocatello, please join at the local level instead. If there is no Local League near you, you can join the many Idahoans who are members of the State League instead!

WHO ARE THE MEMBERS?

  • Membership in the League of Women Voters, the most respected and effective grassroots organization in the country, is open to men and women of all ages.
  • Our members make a visible difference by serving as community leaders using their experience to create positive, lasting change in our communities.

WHY SHOULD I JOIN?

  • You will be able to contribute valuable service to the community
  • You will gain knowledge and experience through the study and discussion of timely and important topics
  • You will discover new interests, develop new skills and learn about crucial issues in your community
  • You will make professional contacts and develop lasting friendships as you meet others in League who share your interests

HOW MUCH MONEY DOES IT COST?

  • Individual members: $75 per year is the recommended amount, or pay what you can ($20 minimum).
  • You can add a second member ($150 total for both recommended, $40 for both minimum), but they each will need to provide a unique email address.
  • Life members: In appreciation of their dedication to democracy, Life Members (members for more than 50 years) are exempt from membership dues.

WHAT DO I GET?

  • You automatically become a member of your local League (if applicable), LWV Idaho and LWV of the United States.
  • You will receive their publications along with the newsletter from the Idaho League of Women Voters called LWV of Idaho VOTER Newsletter which is usually published 4 times each year.
  • You will have the knowledge that you are adding your voice to a powerful force of members from all 50 states, Washington DC and the Virgin Islands. 

WHO CAN JOIN?

Membership is open to any individual age 16 years or older who subscribes to the purposes and policy of the League.

MAKING DUES PAYMENTS

  • The preferred payment option is a direct bank transfer (ACH transfer), which minimizes fees. You’ll need your financial institution's routing number and your account number.
  • You also have the option to pay by credit or debit card.
  • You will receive an online confirmation and an email receipt for your payment.
  • If you join a Local League in Idaho, your membership dues payment will show up as three transactions on your account — one each to Local League, LWVID, and LWVUS. You’ll be a member of all three!
  • If you do not join a Local League in Idaho, your membership dues payment will show up as two transactions on your account — one each to LWVID, and LWVUS. You’ll be a member of both!
  • Keep things simple by automatically renewing each year!  Just select auto-renewal when you are paying your dues. 

HOW CAN I JOIN?

PAYING DUES ONLINE: To join or renew online, please follow the corresponding link.

If you do not live near one of the above mentioned areas, please follow this link to pay your dues for the State League online.

PAYING DUES OFFLINE: 

  • If you are not comfortable making payments online, see Pay Dues by Check for instructions. 

Renewing Your Membership

  • You will receive an email reminder to renew one year after your last renewal that will include a link to renew on the LWV Member Portal.
  • If you have signed up for auto-renew, you will get a reminder that your membership is automatically renewing.

Making Donations

Do you want to make an extra donation in addition to paying your dues? Thanks - we appreciate it!
  • You will have the option to make a direct donation to LWVID when paying your dues, or you can donate directly to us on the Donate page on our website.
