The College Market hosts a Staged Reading of POTUS: Or, Behind Every Great Dumbass Are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive by Selina Fillinger. The Satire opened three years ago on Broadway and starred Julianne Hough, Julie White, and Vanessa Williams. The show centers around a PR nightmare for the White House and the seven women trying to keep the President out of trouble.   The Washington Post theatre critic Peter Marks compared the show to that of a mix between Saturday Night Live and Veep, while the New York Times theatre critic, Jesse Green, wrote: “POTUS' lets us experience the double-bind of exceptional women unmediated by the men who depend on their complicity." 

The stars of  this black comedy are: Elle Mann takes on the role of Harriet, the chief of staff; Bailey Brockett is Jean, the press secretary; Abby Kiefner plays the White House receptionist, Stephanie; Tawna Brockett is First Lady, Margaret; Katelyn McKelley portrays the president’s delinquent sister, Bernadette;  Kate Baker is Chris, a member of the Press; and Tiffany Chandler is Dusty, one of the president’s dalliances. The production is stage managed and narrated by Abby Newell and Sherri Dienstfrey-Swanson directs. 

All donations from the Staged Reading will benefit Old Town Actors Studio and the League of Women Voters, Pocatello. OTAS is Pocatello’s Non-Profit Alternative Theatre. LWV of Pocatello is a non-partisan organization that promotes active civic engagement. The College Market has graciously opened its doors to the performances on Thursday, August 29 and Friday, August 30 at 7:00 p.m.  The house will open at 6:30 p.m. and the League of Women Voters will be equipped to register those interested in voting at this election.
