Thursday, April 25, 2024 - 7:00pm
Join us on Thursday, April 25, 2024, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM in the Kossmann Room
of the Elmhurst Public Library for a showing of the Academy Award-nominated documentary
"The ABCs of Book Banning."
The film draws attention to books that have been singled out for removal from schools and libraries across the county. Interviews with elementary and young-adult readers allow viewers to experience the personal views ov those most deeply affected by book bans: school children.
After the film, there will be a presentation by Alyssa Murphy, Assistant Head of Adult Services at the Elmhurst Public Library. Some topics that will be covered include the types of books being banned and how requests for reconsideration are processed. Following Ms. Murphy's presentation, there will be time for a brief discussion about how book banning affects our community.
