It is generally quiet in the office at the end of April. The Candidate Forums and Voters Guide committees can bask in the glory of jobs well done, and office volunteers can rest their voices after hundreds of calls from voters with questions about polling locations and ballot issues. High School voter registrations are scheduled and finishing up in May; the Annual Meeting is planned to the minute; and the welcome party event for new members was rescheduled after another spring tornado warning closed offices and our venue early. But behind the scenes, our meeting rooms are filled with activities in preparation for the new year’s committees, the August primaries, and the much-anticipated midterms in November.

Watch for expanded League impact and ways to get involved as we launch several new initiatives in the weeks and months ahead. Collaborations with many organizations are making us stronger and will involve League volunteers, working side by side in the community, to meet our mission. The North County Task Force, led by Lisa Collier; the Youth Civics Showcase, headed by Nadine Ball and Gretchen Moser; and the LWV ID Clinic St. Charles, headed by Kirsten and Kimber Palmer, are just three huge volunteer projects that can grow and positively impact our region. Our Membership Committee is retooling to create mentoring and leadership development for new members. And we are working closely with LWVMO, thanks to their president and our League member, Kay Park, to create concise, branded voter education tools to help our region be prepared for what will be very large and very complicated ballots in August and November. In-house, we are updating our communication strategies with a new email system, improved file storage, and a redesigned website. CRM software can add to our ability to connect members and communicate effectively. In the meantime, watch your weekly “Things to Do” email and this monthly online newsletter to keep informed. Life is coming at us quickly, and we have a lot to do!
