On July 28th, the Membership Team of the LWV of Metro St. Louis held a Meet & Greet event at Schlafly Bottleworks to connect new members with our work. Around 20 new members eager to get connected with Metro League leaders from GOTV, Voter Registration, Environmental Quality and Climate Change, and Reproductive Rights Committees. Others expressed an interest in Communications, Trivia Night and Event Planning, Office Volunteering, and the St. Charles Unit.
Our Co-Presidents, Joan Hubbard and Julie Gaebe; our new Executive Director, Sandra Richason; and our new LWV Missouri President, Kay Park, gave inspired motivational speeches to the group.
Our new members represent a wide range of ages. All said that they want to do something for democracy and that they see the League of Women Voters as a great place to get involved. Some of the members in attendance said they joined after interacting with League members at the Do Something STL event the day before. Others said they picked the League after searching through a myriad of options. We welcome all of our new members and are grateful that they chose the League as their place to get involved. Thanks to all who came out Monday evening to make this event a great success!
The Membership Team holds these events on a quarterly basis. If you are a new or re-connecting member and were unable to attend this Meet & Greet event, please feel free to reach out to Angie Dunlap or Cheri Crockett at membership [at] lwvstl.org. We will be happy to help you get connected to the activities you are passionate about.
