Even though Idaho women had voting rights for a generation before the passing of the 19th Amendment, Idaho’s ratification was neither easy nor swift. Join University of Idaho Historians Rebecca Scofield and Katherine Aiken to learn about the issues, women and consequences of this landmark amendment and how entangled Idaho politics made the state one of the last to ratify the amendment.
The Seeking Suffrage Lecture Series is a year-long commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th amendment, granting women the right to vote. Future events focusing on the women's suffrage in Idaho and Latah County will be held throughout 2020.
The series is hosted by the Latah County Historical Society, Moscow League of Women’s Voters, U of I’s College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences, Honors Program and Women’s Center, with support from the Idaho Humanities Council.
