Dr. Allen is an education consultant who provides technical assistance to state and local education agencies to improve student outcomes. She earned her PhD from Kansas State University in 2019; her dissertation examined the marketization of state-level education policies, including the influence of special interest groups on the movement toward school choice.
Dr. Allen will describe the school choice policy movement in Kansas, providing an overview of Kansas’ tax credit scholarships program and education savings accounts. Implications for the future of public education in Kansas will be discussed.
Special guests will include Leah Fliter, Assistant Executive Director of the Kansas Association of School Boards, and Lauren Tice Miller, Director of Government Relations and Elections of KNEA. There will be a Q & A session at the conclusion of the presentation.
