Announcement from Indivisible MHK: On Saturday, May 10th, Indivisible MHK along withthe League of Women Voters of Manhattan/Riley County, the American Association of University Women - Manhattan Branch, and the Manhattan Area Resettlement Team (MART) will host a public forum on the Immigration law and how we can support our immigrant communities during the current Constitutional crisis. [This presentation].... is designed to inform the general public about immigration law and provides essential information on how to protect our immigrant families.
What: Public Forum: Immigration Law: Essential Information to Protect Immigrants Families
Who: Prof. Kirby Tyrrell, Associate Professor of Law, Washburn University School of Law. Director of Family Justice and Immigration Clinic at Washburn Law School. (See link above for much more information.)

We kindly ask that you include an announcement about this program in your church bulletins, in memos to the teaching staff of 383 and Manhattan Catholic Schools, and related social service agencies that serve immigrant communities.
This presentation is intended for the general public/allies to help build support structures in Manhattan for our immigrant communities. It is not designed to answer specific legal issues of individual immigrants.
Don't forget to visit the Kansas Statehouse to see the new Suffragist memorial, "Rebel Women." This is first work by a woman artist in the Kansas Statehouse. The artist, Phyllis Garibay-Coon is a Manhattan resident. Congratulations, Ms. Garibay-Coon. More here.

In the Spotlight: League of Women Voters Encourages Student Participation Ahead of Voter Registration Deadline

MANHATTAN, Kan. — As the voter registration deadline looms, Donna Shenk Hamlin from the League of Women Voters joined Delaney and Cadence on Wildcat 91.9’s Evening Drive Show to discuss the importance of civic engagement among students. With voter registration closing at noon on Tuesday, Hamlin emphasized the ease of checking registration status and making voting plans through the website ksvotes.org.
Hamlin, a long-standing member of the League of Women Voters of Riley County and a participant in Kansas State University's Institute for Civic Discourse and Democracy (ICDD), highlighted the collaborative efforts to promote voter participation....(article continues.)
