The League of Women Voters of Monterey County will present a free talk titled: “Short Term Rentals in Unincorporated Monterey County” at a live-streamed meeting at Noon on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.
Fifth District Supervisor Mary Adams will lead the presentation on the regulation of Short Term Rentals (STRs). This has been a contentious issue that has baffled planners for a number of years.
Residents in areas like Carmel Valley and Carmel Highlands are concerned that STRs change residential neighborhoods into commercial zones, increase levels of noise and traffic, and reduce long term rental housing stock.
The draft Environmental Impact Report was recently released, and will be the basis for the presentation and for updating STR regulations. Q&A will follow.
Supervisor Adams will share the podium with Craig Spencer, Acting Director of the County's Department of Housing and Community Development.
All current LWVMC members will receive the Zoom link on Monday, February 12. Non-members should send a message to LWVmryco [at] gmail.com requesting an invitation.
This talk will be recorded and posted on the LWVMC website (under Videos): lwvmryco.org
