An in-person author presentation titled Highlighting Pennsylvania Women During America’s 250th Anniversary Celebrations is scheduled for Wednesday July 8, at 6:30 PM at the Radnor Memorial Public Library, 114 West Wayne Ave., Wayne PA 19087.
The presentation will feature Amanda Owen author of the book, The Justice Bell: Tracing the Journey of a Forgotten Symbol provides the first in-depth documentation of the Justice Bell’s creation, its historic 1915 tour, years of obscurity, and its rediscovery a century later.
Learn the significance of the Justice Bell, a symbol of the women's suffrage movement, tracing its origins as a grassroots campaign tool through the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment and into the present day.
On writing the book Owen drew on new research, historical photographs, and newspaper accounts. The author features profiles of twenty-five women who served as speakers on the Justice Bell historic tour in 1915.
There will be a screening of a short film about the Justice Bell at the event.
The presentation is FREE but books will be available for purchase.
