How the League Works as One
Unifying studies, consensus, and advocacy across all levels
For over 100 years, the League of Women Voters has built its “good government” positions through deliberate study and coordinated action at the local, state, and national levels. While our priorities evolve to meet current needs and critical issues, we remain committed to our core purpose: making democracy work for all citizens . The League maintains a set of governmental standards and policies that guide all our activities and advocacy. These positions are developed at the national, state, or local levels and fall under three main areas of public policy: To develop a position, League members engage in thorough, nonpartisan study — examining all sides of an issue, consulting diverse experts, reviewing the best available research, and weighing both short- and long-term impacts. Only after members reach consensus is a position adopted. This grassroots process ensures that when the League takes action—whether lobbying Congress, the Ohio General Assembly, or local officials—we speak with one informed and unified voice. Join us and help make government more responsive, transparent, and accountable. LWVMC takes action only on issues where we have a national, state, or local position. These positions are developed through grassroots study and member consensus. This ensures our local advocacy reflects a broad range of perspectives, is well understood by our members, and is grounded in principled, factual information we can confidently share with the public. Our Positions

Using Members-Only Space
The League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Columbus (LWVMC) is a strong network of volunteers using information that is connected and is shared. We organize our work through committees and small working groups. Each group focuses on different activities, but all share a common purpose: advancing the committee’s goals. This structure ensures collaboration and balance—empowering volunteers while keeping efforts aligned. If you or your committee have needs such as:
We encourage you to use this form to collaborate with the Communications Committee.
Our shared tools keep members informed, reduce duplication, and maintain transparency. Each committee has titled action cards that are uniquely numbered providing access to the following: → Members can view, upload, and organize files. → Only coordinators can add events. Please do not add Zoom links as “disruptors” can join in. → Messages are forwarded to the committee chair or co-chair. This system helps us stay organized, collaborate smoothly, and make sure everyone is supported. Access is reserved exclusively forLWVMC coordinators (chairs and task leads). It includes planning tools, key updates, and internal resources designed to help leaders manage their teams effectively. If you're a group leader and need access, please use the email below:
