LWVMC Governance, Committees & Advocacy

Connect With Our Committees

Our committees provide focused leadership and expert guidance in key areas like finance, governance, fundraising, and programming. They support the board with well-informed recommendations and help ensure thoughtful, strategic decisions.

Committees offer meaningful opportunities for members and volunteers to get involved. They often serve as a training ground for future board leaders and deepen engagement in our mission.

To be effective, our committees:

  • Work with defined goals and responsibilities
  • Collaborate regularly, using agendas and minutes to stay organized
  • Make recommendations, not decisions, unless authority is delegated
  • Include a diverse mix of perspectives, skills, and methods

Through their work, our committees strengthen our organization and help us move forward with purpose and clarity.

Our committees develop programs and activities to engage individuals, communities, and policymakers while upholding the principles of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Positions and Advocacy

Our advocacy is informed by current National and State League positions and local studies that consider their impact on Metro Columbus communities.

League of Women Voters – 104 Years of Making Democracy Work!

League advocacy is grounded in informed member consensus. Through local, state, and national studies, members examine issues from multiple angles before a position is adopted. These positions then guide our lobbying and civic education efforts.
