The League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Columbus (LWVMC) serves Columbus and Franklin County, Ohio — one of the largest and fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the Midwestern United States.

Member volunteers are the heart of LWV Metro Columbus. From leadership to logistics, your involvement drives our impact. Keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes is our incredible operations manager, Sophia Lombardo — making sure members and programs stay connected and supported every step of the way.

Our Committees

Our committees provide focused leadership and expert guidance in key areas like finance, governance, fundraising, and programming. They support the board with well-informed recommendations and help ensure thoughtful, strategic decisions.

Committees also offer meaningful opportunities for members and volunteers to get involved. They often serve as a training ground for future board leaders and deepen engagement in our mission.

To be effective, our committees:

  • Work with defined goals and responsibilities
  • Meet regularly, using agendas and minutes to stay organized
  • Make recommendations, not decisions (unless authority is delegated)
  • Include a diverse mix of perspectives and skills

Through their work, our committees strengthen our organization and help us move forward with purpose and clarity.

League of Women Voters – 104 Years of Making Democracy Work!

We are a nonpartisan organization that works to promote civic engagement and access to reliable election and voting information. Our League's programs and activities engage individuals, communities, and policymakers while upholding the principles of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

League advocacy is grounded in informed member consensus. Through local, state, and national studies, members examine issues from multiple angles before a position is adopted. These positions then guide our lobbying and civic education efforts.
