The League of Women Voters of Oxford, Miami University’s Menard Family Center for Democracy and the Journal News will conduct a debate with candidates on the November 2022 ballot for the position of State Representative 47th District. This event will be held on October 13 at 6:30pm and will take place virtually on Zoom. It is aimed at providing the citizens of Butler County with a chance to hear directly from the candidates running for office. Ohio legislative districts were updated following the 2020 Census. The new District 47, effective for the November 2022 election, includes the City of Oxford, the City of Hamilton, Reily, McGonigle and other surrounding areas. Sara Carruthers is currently the State Representative for the 51st District, which includes the City of Hamilton.
