Do you know that close to 100 people in the Oxford community are homeless or that our local social service agency has served more than 2,500 people in the first eight months of this year? The League of Women Voters of Oxford is hosting a public forum to highlight the scope of social services available to meet the basic needs of members of our community, especially in the area of housing, but also in terms of wider social services. The forum will be held at 7pm on November 20 in the Seminary Building, 104 E. Church St., Oxford and will feature two speakers.

Jenny Bailer, board member of the non-profit organization, Oxford Area Solutions for Housing (OASH) will describe the community-based planning model used to develop goals and objectives for OASH, their accomplishments to date, and their on-going efforts to work at the policy level to alleviate the problems facing local citizens who lack permanent, or even temporary, housing. Suzy Hummel, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Talawanda Oxford Pantry & Social Services (TOPSS) will explain the new structure that exists for “one-stop” social services in our region, after the merger of TOPSS and the Family Resource Center
