The Redistricting Committees must take into account population changes around the state and draw boundaries for both legislative and congressional districts. There are 60 Oregon House districts and 30 Oregon Senate districts, and the task of drawing congressional districts has recently been complicated by the awarding of a 6th congressional district, due to population growth in our state since the 2010 Census.

In drawing district lines, the Legislature is tasked with ensuring that each proposed district: • is contiguous • utilizes existing geographic or political boundaries • is of equal population • does not divide communities of common interest • is connected by transportation links. February 8, 2022 is the final deadline set for adoption of the legislative and congressional plans.
