Please join us on Zoom with speaker Melanie Billings-Yun of LWVPDX on a discussion of ranked choice voting in Clackamas County.  A reminder will be sent out the Friday before and the morning of the event with a link, so we hope you can drop in to meet Melanie Billings-Yun, LWV of Portland Ranked Choice Voting Chair and also on the League’s Charter Education Coordinating Committee. Previously, she was a member of the Charter Commission that crafted the changes to Portland’s form of government and electoral system that were approved by voters in 2022.

This election year Portlanders in Multnomah, Washington and Clackamas Counties will be using a new voting system to elect their Mayor, Auditor and City Council. Instead of a primary followed by a general election, these positions will all be elected in a single November election using Ranked Choice Voting. Melanie will talk about why these changes were introduced, how the new system works, and the steps LWVPDX is taking to answer voters’ questions and concerns.
