We spent five years living aboard a sailboat before my husband and I retired and moved back near our family in West Linn during the pandemic. It was interesting seeing the U.S. through the lens of cosmopolitan travelers in the Bay Area and when I returned, I felt it was really important to do something to defend democracy. Lucky for me, the League of Women Voters of Clackamas County was a perfect fit aa nonpartisan group supporting democracy! the League registers voters, organizes candidate forums, encourages legislation which supports democracy and is reaching out to new young voters with civic engagement. I have had a great experience so far and encourage anyone interested to join the purpose-filled fun with incredibly diverse and dedicated men and women in the League! Diana DeMaria
I joined the League because I wanted to make a difference in my community beyond just casting a vote. I'm so glad I did. Being a League member takes you from being a lone voice to being part of a 100-year-old organization in service to the common good. Marge Easley
I joined the League when I was brand new to Oregon, and national issues reawakened my interest in politics. In the League, I met women who not only gave me the opportunity to learn a lot about my state, county and city but also mentored me to become a leader in my own right. Nancy Murray
When I joined the LWV many years ago, I worked alongside one of the original Suffragettes! Esther Nicholson. She was a wonderful role model for a young woman. LWV members are intelligent and resourceful women, a delight to be around. Linda O'Malia
