FEDERAL OFFICES

U.S. Senator

100 members of Senate, 2 per state
- Serve 6-year terms, staggered, no limits
- Responsibilities include:
   ▪ Write and vote on bills
   ▪ Approve presidential appointments
   ▪ Approve treaties with foreign nations
   ▪ Serve on committees
   ▪ Represent their constituents
- Annual salary $174,000

             U. S. Representative

- 435 members of Congress; 17 in Pennsylvania
- Serve 2-year terms, no limits
- Responsibilities include:
   ▪ Write and vote on bills
   ▪ Serve on committees
   ▪ Represent their constituents
- Annual salary $174,000

 

STATE EXECUTIVE OFFICES

Attorney General

 - 4-year term, limited to 2 consecutive terms
 - Serves as the chief law enforcement officer of Pennsylvania
 - Represents the state and its agencies in any action 
 - Collects all debts, taxes, and accounts due to the state.
 - Serves as a member of boards and commissions, including the:
      - Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency
      - Board of Pardons
      - Board of Finance and Revenue
      - Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency
 - Annual Salary: $197,748

                                        Auditor

- 435 members of Congress; 17 in Pennsylvania
- 2-year term, no term limits
- Responsibilities include:
       - Write and vote on bills
       - Serve on committees
       - Represent their constituents
- Annual salary $197,748

                                     Treasurer

 - 4-year term, limited to 2 consecutive terms
 - Chief financial officer, responsible for managing the
   commonwealth's money and serving as Pennsylvania's banker

 - Custodian of more than $100 billion in Commonwealth funds 
 - Responsible for:
      - Receipt and deposit of state monies
      - Investment management
      - Oversight of all withdrawals and deposits from state agencies
 - Annual Salary: $197,748

 

STATE LEGISLATIVE OFFICES 

State Representatives

- 2-year term, no term limits
- Is part of the Legislative Branch of the PA General Assembly
- Creates laws and establishes a state budget
- Legislative authority and responsibilities include:
   ▪ Passing bills on public policy matters
   ▪ Setting levels for state spending
   ▪ Raising and lowering taxes
   ▪ Voting to uphold or override gubernatorial vetoes
- Annual salary $106,422 plus daily per diems

                              State Senators

Note:  There are NO State Senate offices on the ballot in
          Bucks County in 2024

- 4-year term, staggered, no term limits
- Is part of the Legislative Branch of the PA government
- Creates laws and establishes a state budget
- Legislative authority and responsibilities are the same
  as for State Representative
- Annual salary $106,422 pus daily per diems
