Join us for a RALLY FOR VOTING RIGHTS scheduled for Saturday, August 8 from 11:00 AM to Noon in front of the Delaware County Courthouse 201 W Front St, Media, PA 19063.

This event is part of the League of Women Voters National Day of Action to Unite & Rise honoring the anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. 

The event will include displaying of the Suffrage flag and a tribute to Anna Howard Shaw, preacher, teacher, physician, suffrage leader, and resident of Delaware County. Elected officials and League leaders will reflect on the importance of the voting rights act and the need for continued efforts to register eligible citizens, promote participation, and resist efforts to curtail voting rights. Business cards with QR code links to VOTE411 and other resources will be provided to all attendees to distribute in their communities.

The LWV Unite and Rise effort will conclude with an opportunity for everyone to lend their voice to freedom songs. Led by Marian Anderson re-enactor and historian Jillian Patricia Pirtle, those in attendance will be inspired to lift their voices and spirits to promote equality through voting rights and help make democracy work.

Other organizations with whom we work in coalition include NAACP branches of Chester and Media, and PA Youth Vote as well as America 250 PA Delco.
