SC is one of only 10 states that has refused to expand health insurance coverage for working-age adults although Federal funds would cover more than 90% of the cost.

  • SC ranks in the bottom quartile on many health metrics and has been ranked the worst state for family medical debt.
  • Overwhelming research shows how closing the insurance gap improves health, including reducing mortality, and would be a significant boost to SC's economy.
  • SC's leadership has refused to expand insurance coverage; current evidence should dispel their concerns.
  • The CoverSC Coalition is dedicated to closing the health insurance gap, their strategy, and what you can do.
  • Let's pass S. 855 establishing a Healthcare Market Reform Study Committee.
