Harriett Cooper was a beloved member of the League of Women Voters of Montgomery County, VA.

Harriett Cooper passed away on April 18, 2022 at the age of 94. Born in the South Bronx, NY August 7, 1927 she was the oldest with 2 brothers.

In college her interest in animal behavior led to a PhD at Hunter College, where she worked in research towards a cure for epilepsy.
After raising her 2 daughters, Lucie & Linda, Harriett remarried, moving to Montgomery Co where we eventually came to know her.
Involvement with the LWVMC began in the 90s where her skill with words and note taking landed her the job of Secretary, for many years. Keeping us organized and on schedule were her trademarks. Soon a knack for asking people to sponsor and donate became apparent, and she became an excellent Fundraising chairperson.
Harriett enjoyed learning and playing the alto recorder with a recorder group, and the bass drum with the Community Band. She was also very active in the Funeral Consumers Alliance, providing her organizational skills in service to the FCAVBR as well as to the LWVMC.
We are fortunate to have known Harriett Cooper. Harriett with 2 T’s as she would fondly say.
