Join the League/Renew Your Membership

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan, grassroots organization working to protect and expand voting rights and ensure everyone is represented in our democracy. Joining the League of Women Voters is a great way to get involved in your community and play an active role in our democracy.

Membership in the League of Women Voters of Montgomery County also includes membership at the national and state levels and is open to anyone 16 years or older.

The League of Women Voters has implemented a new online membership payment system, coming soon during the week of February 3, 2025. Watch this step-by-step video about how to use the system.

Membership Dues:

• Individual members: LWVMC dues are $50/year. An increase to $75/year is recommended by LWVUS, or pay what you can ($20 minimum).
• Additional members: Each additional member is considered an individual member for the purpose of dues payment. For two (2) members, dues are $100/year or $40 minimum.
• Life members: In appreciation of their dedication to democracy, Life Members (members for more than 50 years) are exempt from membership dues.

Making Dues Payments

• The preferred payment option is a direct bank transfer (ACH transfer), which minimizes fees. You’ll need your financial institution’s routing number and your bank account number.
• You may also pay by credit or debit card.
• You may still pay by check if you are not comfortable making payments online. Download the printable form and follow the directions on the form.
• You will receive an email receipt for your online payment. Your membership dues payment will show up as three transactions on your account— one each to LWVMC, LWVC, and LWVUS. You’ll be a member of all three!
• Keep things simple by selecting auto-renewal when paying your dues. Each year, you will receive an email reminder that your membership is automatically renewing, and will be notified if the card information on file needs to be updated.

Making Donations

Contributions are our most important foundation in providing voter information. Without your support we wouldn’t be able to be effective in our work. 

• You may make a direct donation to LWVMC when paying your dues online, or you can donate directly to us on the Donate page on our website.
• When making donations by check, please write a separate check from your dues payment, made payable to our local League (LWVMC), otherwise your donations will be counted as dues.
• Mail donations to LWVMC, PO Box 10133, Blacksburg, VA 24060-0133.

Renewing Your Membership

• You will receive an email reminder to renew one year after your last renewal, with a link to renew on the LWV Member Portal.
• If you have signed up for auto-renew, you will get a reminder that your membership is automatically renewing, but this payment will process automatically as long as the payment information on file is valid.

Accessing the LWV Member Portal

To update your contact information or view your past payments, click the button below (starting February 3, 2025) to access the LWV Member Portal.

To log in to the portal:

• Enter the email address associated with your membership. 
• You will be sent an email with a verification code to enter the code into the form. (You do not need a password.)
