At noon The League of Women Voters of Virginia was recognized on the floor of the House and Senate (see photo above, our President Gunin Kiran at left).

Report

The League of Women Voters of Montgomery County President Gunin Kiran attended the League Day on February 6-7 in Richmond to advocate the Virginia League’s legislative priorities as well as to share the Education Equity Study (2022) by League of Women Voters of Virginia in which both the Montgomery County and Washington County chapters played leading roles.

President Kiran met the State League President Joan Porte, League board members and members from other Leagues, Delegate Keys-Gamarra (HD 7), Delegate Glass (HD 93), Delegate Shelly Simonds (HD 70), as well as our own Delegate Ballard and Delegate Obenshain. Senator Suetterlein was detained by an extended committee meeting so Kiran met with his legislative aide Mr. Zessin.

The Virginia League was recognized on the Senate floor by Senator Favola (Kirin can be seen in the foreground at left of the photo above). Networking with other Leagues is so important to our work, as is lobbying our legislators on our legislative priorities. The League of Women Voters of Montgomery County traveled the farthest of all the Leagues present that day.
