The Action-Advocacy Committee met September 25, 2021 for lively discussion about issues important to LWVDV and the community. Below is information that the Committee wanted us to share.

Recall Reform
Many people believe that the California recall process needs to be reformed. The LWVC has positions that support reform. LWVC will be participating in the legislative process of recall reform, including having a presence at hearings on the issue. The League supports reasonable, rational government; promotes public trust in government and government systems. Excessive numbers of elections are costly, drive down turnout, and drive up public distrust in government.

Speaking with One Voice
The LWVC has a “one voice” policy in order to drive a powerful and consistent message. What this means to you as members of this group, is that you may not advocate in the name of the state or local League without the express permission of that League. Speaking with One Voice: LWVC Advocacy Policy Explainer explains the one-voice policy, the different levels of League, and who does what.

LWVC Online Discussion Groups
LWVC has many online discussion groups through Facebook, Yahoo Groups, and Google Groups. To support these groups, LWVC has developed a document that outlines the ground rules of online communities that all participants in the group are required to abide by. Check out the discussion groups, and become part of a conversation that interests you.
