The League of Women Voters is switching to a national membership management system starting on Monday, February 3, 2025. This will change the way members from all Leagues across the country will join, renew, and pay membership dues.

LWV expects that moving to this new system will:
  • Increase and diversify overall membership, improving our ability to fulfill our mission.
  • Increase funding at the state and local levels where it is needed.
  • Allow League leaders more time to focus on substantive work by eliminating duplicative efforts.
After the new system launches on February 3, 2025, you will receive an email instructing you to register as a member on the new LWV Member Portal.
  • You will not need to renew or pay dues when you register on the LWV Member Portal, which is the new system. (The LWV Member portal is sometimes referred to as ChapterSpot, which is the company hosting and supporting the new site.)
  • You will be able to update your contact information.
  • You will have the option to sign up to auto-renew annually.
When it is time for you to renew, you will receive an email reminder.
  • You will be reminded to renew one year after your last renewal.
  • If you have signed up for auto-renew, you will get a reminder that your membership is automatically renewing.
New membership dues:
  • The recommended dues amount for all members will be $75.
  • There will be a pay-what-you-can option where members can choose their own dues amount, with a minimum of $20.
  • There will no longer be different categories of membership (such as Individual, Household, or Student).
  • Life Members (members for more than 50 years) will continue to be exempt from membership dues.
New payment options:
  • The preferred payment option will be ACH (electronic bank transfer), which minimizes fees.
  • You will also have the option to pay by credit or debit card.
  • For those who are not comfortable making payments online, there will be instructions on how to pay by check.
  • Dues collected will be shared with national, state and local Leagues. Under the new system, 33% of your dues payment will go to LWVUS, 47% will go to LWVC, and 20% will go LWVDV.
  • You will be able to make an additional direct donation to LWVDV at the same time you pay your dues.

Watch for emails and updates on the Join page with more details!
