The League is Reaching Out!  We are reactivating the Community Outreach Committee and reaching out to organizations and agencies in the community in an effort to “form collaborative and mutual relationships that will support each other through advocacy, education and service for mutual priorities aligned with League policies”.

In the past few months, members have come together to identify groups with which we are already working. Voter Services has a long history and lists of groups in the community that they work with regarding voting, Candidate Forums, Pros and Cons, and an array of other services.  In addition to these partners, we would like to build connections with organizations around action-advocacy issues. We already have members who are connected to the Measure X Advisory Board, Contra Costa Budget Justice Coalition, Contra Costa Community Care Coalition, the Office of Racial Equity and Social Justice, Moms Demand Action, 350 Bay Area Action, and several other organizations.

Among other things, we are hoping to diversify both our knowledge of and value to the community. A partnership can open up a broader base of opportunities for both action and advocacy within the community.

If you are a member of a community group that you believe might be a valuable partner for the League, please consider joining the Community Outreach Committee. If you may find it difficult to attend meetings, that’s okay.  Informing the committee about ways to partner with your group will be a tremendous help.  Let’s talk! Or if you would like to join us in developing new partnerships, please let us know.
