Greetings!

August was a busy month for our League as we began preparing for the upcoming midterm elections. We are laser-focused on our commitment to Empower Voters, Defend Democracy, and Make Democracy Work.

Our Pros and Cons team is busy organizing and planning for presentations on various ballot initiatives. The Voter’s Edge team is gearing up to help voters get information on candidates, measures, and who supports them. Voter Services is also preparing for Candidate Forums and Roundtables this fall.

The Civil Discourse committee is developing audiences among elected officials and education districts for civil discourse and civic engagement. This committee, in collaboration with Communications and Community Conversations members, is coordinating the development of tools to fight misinformation and disinformation. These resources will include trusted websites, articles, presentations, and a brochure on how to spot inaccurate information. They are intended to help voters as they prepare to vote in November.

On September 15th, Community Conversations starts the Mid-term Elections season with the webinar, Your Roadmap to Voting 2022," and will provide voters with important information about how to ready themselves for the November 8, 2022, General Election.

As always, our Action-Advocacy group has been tracking existing and proposed local and state level measures that impact our League.

On a social note, we had our first Coffee Hour in August at Todos Santos Plaza in Concord. It was very successful, with connections made between new and long-term members. Everyone enjoyed being together in person. Our next social event is a Happy Hour at 4:00 PM on September 14th, also at Todos Santos Plaza. Please join us!

  • 9/15: National Hispanic Heritage Month begins (9/15 – 10/15)
