League Leaders and Members:
I hope you are taking care of yourselves during this difficult time. We are being bombarded with horrifying news and images from Minnesota and elsewhere. LWVUS is speaking up to fight for democracy. LWVC just posted this Statement from LWV on Federal Immigration Enforcement and the Erosion of Constitutional Rights.
There have been ongoing news releases from LWVUS in the past few days. You can see them at the LWV Newsroom. In addition, you can refer to the post about the National Guard, the Insurrection Act and Martial Law here.
LWVDV is continuing our work to Defend Democracy and empower our members and our community. Information about our Unite and Rise team is here. To keep up with our LWVDV team working on Immigration, email diane [at] lwvdv.org (subject: From%20a%20Voter%20reader%20--%20immigration) .
Community and connection are vital during these difficult times. Our first no-host coffee, organized by our Membership team on Saturday, January 24, was a success. The next one is Saturday, February 28, at Panera on Bancroft in Walnut Creek.
We welcome new members Laura Crosby, Aleida Socarras, Elaine Peoples, and Cheryl Thomas!
Mary Schreiber, LWVDV President
