Democracy is not a spectator sport.
Making democracy work requires hard work and constant effort, no matter which political party happens to be in power. As an organization dedicated to empowering voters and strengthening democracy, the League of Women Voters works to protect and expand voting rights and to defend our democratic principles and processes.

Stand up!

Unite & Rise 8.5 aims to build a movement of 8.5 million individuals to unite and to rise up against the anti-democratic actions of this administration. The number 8.5 million is the estimated number of voters it would take to bring about change through nonviolent protest.
Is our country really in a consititutional crisis? (LWVUS Video)
Unite & Rise supporters have taken action on many fronts, from the courts to the streets to the ballot box. Supporters show up at rallies, raise their voices on critical issues, and attend town halls and other civic events to speak directly to local politicians. Join the movement and stay up to date on action opportunities - see LWVDV Unite & Rise Team for more information.
