Democracy is not a spectator sport.

Making democracy work requires hard work and constant effort, no matter which political party happens to be in power. As an organization dedicated to empowering voters and strengthening democracy, the League of Women Voters works to protect and expand voting rights and to defend our democratic principles and processes. 

Stay informed and spread the word!

• Subscribe to our emails.
• Follow us on social media: Engage with our posts and share with your friends! 
• Attend a New Member Orientation session to learn more about LWVDV. (See Events for next meeting information.)
• Watch an LWVDV presentation. (See Events for upcoming programs and Community Conversations for videos of past presentations.)
• Read the Voter Newsletter.
• Be an expert at spotting (and fighting) misinformation and disinformation. Fact-check information before sharing to help stop the spread of false or misleading content.

Empower voters!

• Help educate and register voters with the Voter Services team.
• Vote and encourage others to vote in all elections, from local school boards to national offices. 
• Be an informed voter - attend League Candidate forums, Pros and Cons Presentations, and other election-related presentations. 
• Check your voter registration status and help others do the same, using tools like VOTE411.

Speak up!

• Contact your representatives at local, state, and federal levels to make your position known on issues like voting rights and government accountability.
• Watch the Take Action page for current action alerts from the League. 
•  Attend Action-Advocacy team meetings to learn more.

Stand up!

Unite & Rise 8.5 aims to build a movement of 8.5 million individuals to unite and to rise up against the anti-democratic actions of this administration. The number 8.5 million is the estimated number of voters it would take to bring about change through nonviolent protest.

Unite & Rise supporters have taken action on many fronts, from the courts to the streets to the ballot box. Supporters show up at rallies, raise their voices on critical issues, and attend town halls and other civic events to speak directly to local politicians. Support our immigrant neighbors!

• Join us in support of local partner organizations - donate to food drives, act as court observers.
• Raise your voice about illegal deportations - join mobilizations around immigrant rights and due process with organizations like the National Partnership for New Americans, United We Dream, and others.
