NewsOver a quarter of Contra Costa residents are immigrants who come from all over the world. A large new Immigration Court, which handles deportations, recently opened in Concord, nearly doubling the deportation capacity of the Bay Area.
Local organizations are working together to support our immigrant neighbors as they go through the process. Community members are needed to be court observers, or give assistance through accompaniment.

Know Your Rights Resources:
- American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) provides Know Your Rights handouts at this website. Handouts include: ICE worksite raids (for employers), ICE home visits, and ICE public stops.
- The Immigrant Legal Resource Center has red cards to help people assert their rights. They also have an Immigration Preparedness Toolkit and a Know Your Rights toolkit.
- Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of LA (CHIRLA: Know Your Rights video.
- We Have Rights: a national immigrant empowerment campaign to inform people of what to do when interacting with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
