We Continued to Celebrate Democracy in October!

October was ablaze in color as fall settled in.  All that color brightened another month full of opportunities to be out in the community informing and educating about the November 8th election.  Numerous tabling events were held on college campuses: once again at Diablo Valley College, in partnership with the County Elections Office; two more events at the Los Medanos College Pittsburg campus; and one, on the very last day to register, at the new satellite campus in Brentwood. About 6 students at this new campus registered that day using paper forms or online registering.  Getting her toes wet was new member Deborah Hicks who joined in her first tabling opportunity with LWVDV.  Super job Deborah!

LWVDV was invited to share a booth with MoveOn to table at the Walnut Creek Eco Fest.  It was a fun fall day with lots of friendly conversations and interest in Voter’s Edge.  Even Mr. Filter Head was encouraging people to use Voter’s Edge.

The League returned for a second day of tabling at Carondelet High School last week.  Gail Murray and Shawn Gilbert worked with student leaders of Mock Trial to inform their fellow students about registering to vote. The students were successful in getting more than a dozen students to register…a good day, for sure.

The month ended with another good day visiting with young people at Acalanes High and doing a presentation about “Why Vote?”
