September is going to be a busy month as the League readies for the upcoming November 8th General Election.

Currently, we are scheduling at least a dozen candidate forums and roundtables to be offered over the next two months. Our partners, as of now, include Clayton AAUW; the 32nd District PTA covering the county Board of Education; Acalanes, Lafayette, Orinda, Moraga and Walnut Creek school districts; the Orinda Association; Contra Costa Libraries; CCTV; the Elections Department; and the LWV of West Contra Costa County. 

September 14, 15 and 16  are scheduled for taping the roundtables in-studio at CCTV. If you would like to participate as a timekeeper, facilitator or lunch runner for any of those days please contact Voter Services. Or if you can be a moderator, timekeeper, question sorter, question card distributor and facilitator for candidate forums, we would love to have you join us. This month we plan to give group presentations to the Antioch Soroptimist Club and the San Ramon United Methodist Church about the League and about how members of the community can find impartial information about candidates and the seven propositions on the upcoming election ballot. Voter’s Edge is our go-to resource.

The League will again be partnering with the County Elections Office  to register young people to vote, on September 14 at Antioch High School and on September 20 (National Voter Registration Day) at Los Medanos Community College. In addition, there is a scheduled tabling and registration opportunity at Carondelet High School on September 23. Come join us for any of these fun days!
