LWVDV is Out and About…
Whew, May was a busy month!
  • Continued weekly tabling with our Food Bank partner to have a consistent presence, make connections and build trust with neighbors in the larger community who are unfamiliar with the League.
  • We co-hosted with several community organizations to produce three candidate forums. (Check the League’s YouTube page for recordings.)Thank you to the 32nd District PTA Council, the Contra Costa County Bar Association and the East Bay Leadership Council for reaching out to the League to partner with them to provide these informative opportunities for the community. Several youth participated as part of the League team.
  • Members were at three college campuses over eleven days, talking to amazing young people about good resources for getting informed and registering. Thank you to Los Medanos College, Diablo Valley College and St. Mary’s College for inviting the League to be on campus.
  • LWVDV tabled at Antioch High’s Visual and Performing Arts Fair. A fun day all around.
  • Voter Services participated as a community advisor for Generation Citizen’s Civic Days. Students from San Ramon High, California High and Monte Vista presented their real-world civic engagement projects to numerous community members.

CC County Library Summer Exploration Stations
The Contra Costa Library has invited LWVDV to participate again in its summer Exploration Stations program for elementary students. League participants had their first planning session and are looking forward to helping little ones have a fun voting experience. We will be meeting on Zoom to refine the draft plan on Thursday, June 4th at 10:00 am. We still have room for more participants.

This year’s theme is, “Plant a Seed—Read.” Two new puppet friends are joining in the good times: a sunny swallowtail butterfly and a happy honeybee. LWV West Contra Costa County will also be sharing the fun at the San Pablo Library.
