Please join the LWV/NICD Civil Discourse Network on January 19th at 10 AM (PT) for an important, timely virtual program, Democracy, Disinformation and Distrust:  Building Capacity to Impact Mis-/Dis-information  presented by Matt Leighninger and Cameron Hickey of the National Conference on Citizenship.   Learn how to combat the mis/disinformation that helped fuel the insurrection one year ago and continues to threaten our democracy. Learn how to build our capacity to establish resilience to the impact of mis/disinformation. Learn how, together, we can make a meaningful difference!

More than ever, we need tools and knowledge to combat all the false and misleading information that is going viral and resulting in an “infodemic”.  The information ecosystem is helping to foster increased division and distrust. Misinformation spreading on social media has moved beyond an unfortunate fact of life – it has become an incendiary tool: fueling polarization and hate, driving down trust in institutions, amplifying fringe science and conspiracies, and inciting violence. Every political and social issue is now impacted by the threat of false and misleading claims that can confuse and radicalize the public.

Mis-/Disinformation must be addressed now – if you want to engage in meaningful, valuable work on this front, join this session.

The link to a zoom meeting room will be sent to registrants no later than one day before the session.
