Suffragists Inspire Theater Party

You are invited to a theater party!  “Strange Ladies,” a performance about radical suffragists who fight to win the right to vote, is playing at the Concord Historical Society, and Diablo Valley Leaguers are going!  Will you join us?

“Strange Ladies” is about a diverse group of women struggling with personal and political challenges in creating social change. Period protest music weaves through the play dramatizing the suffragists’ political strategies.

Diane Bianchi, Chair of the League’s 100th Anniversary Committee, along with members Carole Woods, Beverly Lane, Leslie Stewart, Janet Hoy, and Gail Murray will be going on Sunday, October 13 at 2:00 p.m.  The Committee, which is organizing events to celebrate the ratification of the 19th Amendment giving women the vote, invites you to join us.

The play, which runs two-and-a-half hours, is located at the Concord Historical Society History Resource Center, 1928 Clayton Road.  Free parking is available in the Galindo Home parking lot behind the theater; from there, one accesses the main entrance  by walking through the garden.  The Center is also just a 10-minute walk from the Concord BART station.

The Eventbrite cost is $20 plus a $2.85 fee for seniors and $25 plus a $3.16 fee for the general public: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/strange-ladies-tickets-70056150833

The play, presented by the B8 Theater Company, runs from September 27 through October 13. Can’t join us October 13? Pick another date and take a friend!
