BIG BEAR DISCOVERY CENTER VOLUNTEER ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Type:
News

The volunteer Advisory Committee is comprised of a group of nine Discovery Center volunteers, who in addition to their volunteer duties (naturalists, leading school programs, leading interpretive programs for visitors, etc.) also meet monthly to review and schedule concerns and needs among the volunteer group (about 80 volunteers). Volunteers and staff benefit from this group's efforts. They work together to improve the facility, organize training among volunteers, and improve and expand interpretive programming for our visitors.

These are folks devote many hours to teaching visitors of all ages about stewardship and our San Bernardino National Forest. They give tirelessly to the Southern California Mountains Foundation, our non-profit by volunteering throughout the year on a multitude of projects and programs.

The Big Bear Discovery Center Volunteer Advisory Committee recipients are Paul Beaty, Committee Chair; David Johnstone, volunteer curator and Treasurer; Dave Bruner, Facility Repair and Maintenance; Kathie Ware, newsletter and social activities; Nina Truex, Secretary; Michele Mills, Volunteer Recognition; Robin Martin, Emeritus and Naturalist Training; Gary Flanders, Administration; and Mary Lippincott, Continuing Education and Fieldtrips.

Nominated by Big Bear DiscoveryCenter Manager, Wendy Craig.
