VOTER 2017

The Voter is the bi-monthly newsletter of the League of Women Voters of San Bernardino.

The November 2017 Voter  includes the President"s Message, the new LWVSB Website, San Bernardino Quality of Life Team, Highland Improvement Team, Point in Time Count, SBCUCD Creating Life Long Voters, 2017 Voter Registration and an update on Equal Means Equal.

The September 2017 Voter includes LVWSB Opposition to the Strawberry Creek Water Extraction, a Happy Birthday to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, a Parliamentary Workshop, a documentary film by Kamaja Lopez titled: Equal Means Equal on the status of Women in America, a visit to the  San Bernardino Sheriffs Department Crime Lab regarding the backlog of sexual sssault cases  and the Make it Fair Coalition.

The August 2017 VOTER includes the president's message which focuses on reporting on the LWVSB Annual Meeting. It includes articles on our interview of Assemblymember Eloise Reyes, choosing a bank or credit union, LWVSB's partnership for voter registration, an opportunity to support Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, a request for a place to hold LWVSB's holiday meeting, and more!

The April 2017 VOTER includes information for our upcoming Citizens of Achievement reception. The citizens we are honoring are: Betsy Starbuck, Judith Ashton, Cesar Caballero, Dianne Landeros, Nellie Moore, Ramona Ramos, Renee Richmond, Jamie Rios, Gwen Dowdy Rodgers, and the Swans Club of San Bernardino. Join us at the Elks Lodge on May 7 to celebrate them!

Help us welcome new members: Gilda Gularte---is active in several organizations and has agreed to be an LWV Observer at the Highland City Coumcil meetings.

James Albert---Active with SB Generation Now, lives in San Bernardino, involved in political action.
Rocio Aguayo---Active with SB Generation Now, student at SB Valley College.

The February 2017 VOTER includes information on our February 25 meeting at the Garcia Center. Jonathan Anderson will lead a discussion on the electoral college and the National Popular Vote and Shirley Harlan will lead a discussion of the Affordable Care Act. LWV San Bernardino hosted an information gathering session on the Strawberry Creek water issue last month. On March 11, we will have another Membership meeting at which we will discuss whether or not we should take a position on the issue. We also will have a table at the Women's History Month event (we are a co-sponsor). Please RSVP to Miriam if you can come. April 8 will be another Member meeting, May 7 is our Citizens of Achievement Reception, and our Annual Meeting will be on June 10. For more information, read the VOTER!
