This year, LWV Woodland solicited nominations from throughout Yolo County, as reflected in the recipients, Davis Media Access and Democracy Winters.

LWV Woodland is pleased to announce Davis Media Access and Democracy Winters as this year's recipients of our League's Democracy Works awards. The award event will be held at 7:00pm, Friday, Oct. 20, at American Legion Post 77, 523 Bush St., Woodland. The event is free to the public (although donations are always welcome), and desserts and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided; alcoholic beverages can be purchased at the bar.

Our thanks to Kristen Wraithwall, Yolo County Sustainability Manager, for an insightful and stirring presentation about the County’s 2030 Climate Action and Adaptation Plan during our League’s “Climate and Conversation" event on Sept. 21.
Wraithwall, who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard in environmental science and public policy and a Master of Science from Yale in environmental management, has been working hard to gather feedback from throughout Yolo County

The League of Women Voters of Woodland is delighted to announce the winners of its Valuing Democracy essay contest which ended in late January 2023. The prize of $500 will be awarded to Woodland High School Senior Hayden Forrest Fettig during the school’s upcoming awards night.

Thank you to our generous sponsors and donors, to the many Yolo County residents who purchased tickets, and to our league members who volunteered their time to make the event a success. This year’s guest speaker was Gerado Pinedo, who assumed the position of Yolo County Administrator in June 2022. He addressed key issues affecting Yolo County residents.
