2024 is a Presidential Election year in the US, which means there are four statewide elections scheduled in Delaware this year instead of three:
    1. Presidential Primary Election on April 2, 2024
    2. School Board Elections statewide on May 14, 2024
    3. In-state Party Primaries on September 10, 2024
    4. General Election on November 5, 2024

These statewide elections are in addition to the various Delaware local municipal elections that will be held at various times during the year. Two local elections already were completed in December 2023: an Appoquinimink School Referendum for both operational and capital funds on Dec 12 (all measures failed to pass), and a special election on December 21st for the State Representative District 37 seat vacated by Ruth Briggs King. Valerie Jones Giltner was voted into that seat, keeping it in Republican hands.

The next local election in New Castle County (NCC) is scheduled for early January: a special election on Jan 9 for the Newark Mayoral seat vacated by Stu Markham. The City of Newark will hold a special municipal election on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 to fill the remainder of the current term for Mayor, which ends in April 2025. The League of Women Voters of New Castle County will hold a candidate forum on Wednesday January 3, 2024 for Newark Mayoral Candidates in the special election.

Three NCC school districts have referendum votes scheduled in February 2024: Brandywine on Feb 13, Red Clay on Feb 28, and Colonial on Feb 29. In addtion, the Appoquinimink district plans to regroup after its December failure and make another referendum attempt in the spring.
