One service our local League provides is to have a League member sit in the audience of various governmental bodies (such as county or city councils) to observe and take notes. The Observer Corps does not paricipate or interfere in the workings of the agency; they just watch, listen and report back what they've seen. This lesser-known but important function shines a light on the workings of our government at the local level, which in turn may highlight opportunities for advocacy.
