In January, our TED group discussed privilege and race, and the need for open discussion about these topics. If you missed the gathering, you can watch this TEDx Talk on YouTube:
- Your Privilege is Showing (Lillian Medville, TEDxBeaconStreet, Jan 2018)
Ms. Medville notes:
I had been raised to believe that the way to be a good, not racist white person, was to not see color. Which is unhelpful. If you can't see color, you can't talk about color, and if you can't talk about race gender class or ability you can't understand it. You can't understand the part you play in it and you can't understand the part it plays in you.
