The League of Women Voters of New Castle County (LWVNCC), along with Delaware Coalition for Open Government (DelCOG), Delaware Press Association, Lead-Free Delaware, Common Cause Delaware, and Network Delaware, is co-sponsoring a virtual panel discussion entitled "Ensuring Transparency and Accountability: Why Delaware Needs an Inspector General Now!" on Monday, April 24, 2023 from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. via Zoom web conference.

The panel discussion, moderated by DelCOG president John Kowalko III, will focus on why we need to establish an independent, nonpartisan Delaware Office of the Inspector General (OIG) here in the First State. The panel consists of:

    • Stephen B. Street, Jr., Louisiana State Inspector General since 2008
    • Laura Sturgeon, Delaware State Senator
    • Anitra Johnson, Delaware Online/News Journal Underserved Communities Reporter
    • Sarah Bucic, Co-chair Lead-Free Delaware

The panelists will address the need for an OIG with the responsibility of oversight and investigation that could help to strengthen government integrity and public trust, and how to move a bill through the Delaware legislature to establish an OIG.

Questions will be taken from the online attendees following the panel discussion.
