The League of Women Voters of Sussex County, Delaware will present a program on “Homelessness- the Heart of the Matter” on Thursday, March 10 at 4:30pm via Zoom.
A panel of representatives will discuss the needs of Sussex homeless families from various perspectives. This has been an exceptionally cold winter with a record-setting blizzard. Yet in Sussex County, the number of homeless families has continued to increase. This is an opportunity for the public to learn more about the scope of the problem and hear about some proposed solutions.
- Rita Landgraf, Professor of Practice and Distinguished Health and Social Services Administrator in Residence at the U University of Delaware. Prior to joining the UD faculty, Professor Landgraf served as Cabinet Secretary of the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services 2009-2017, under Governor Markell.
- Judson Malone, a community advocate, Executive Director and co-founder of the non-profit Springboard Collaborative, whose mission is to build supportive transient living shelters and affordable housing communities.
- Patricia (Tish) Galu, Vice President of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington, and a long-term key member of the Sussex Housing Group.
- Susan Kent, Executive Director of the non-profit, Better Homes of Seaford, Inc., a board member of the Delaware Continuum of Care, and the former Executive Director of Love INC in Seaford.
Attendees will be invited to participate in a question and answer period following the panelists’ presentations.
