Our next LWVNCC Hot Topic will be a Thursday evening presentation on Nov 19, 2020: Mobilizing the Workforce, the Great Green Shift, with panelists Nancy Sopko, Janine Finnell and Dr. Beth Offenbacker.

There is no doubt that US Job market is changing, and our workforce must adapt. Green energy is one of the growing industries that can absorb workers as other markets shrink.

Event Format

This will be a virtual session using Zoom web conferencing. Please preregister using the link provided.

LWVNCC Vice President Dick Johnson will moderate a discussion among our three panelists. Audience questions will be taken via the Zoom chat feature, or can be submitted ahead of time to the League office.

Janine Finnell: Executive Director of Leaders in Energy (LE)

In founding LE, Janine is dedicated to building a network of changemakers to accelerate clean energy and sustainability solutions for "The Big Green Shift" through multigenerational talent and leadership. Her domestic and international career spans policy and research, program management, communications, outreach, and management consulting in the energy and sustainability fields. She also serves as the Chair of the Career Advancement Committee for the Association of Energy Engineers’ Council on Women in Energy and Environmental Leadership (CWEEL).

Beth Offenbacker, PhD, CPCC: Founder & CEO, Waterford, Inc.

Dr. Beth Offenbacker is a senior executive trailblazer with more than 25 years of experience guiding scientific and technical leaders to elevate their impact by bridging the gap between business needs and market dynamics as they take on today's top sustainability challenges. A certified coach, she has extensive experience and expertise in talent management for the "Green" industry. 

Nancy Sopko: Executive Director at SIOW

The Special Initiative on Offshore Wind, SIOW, is an independent project at the University of Delaware’s College of Earth, Ocean and Environment that supports the advancement of offshore wind as part of a comprehensive solution to the most pressing energy problems facing the United States. Prior to joining SIOW, Nancy worked at the American Wind Energy Association, where she served as the Director of Offshore Wind, representing the offshore wind industry in the U.S. Congress and federal agencies.
