The League of Women Voters of New Castle County invites you to a HOT TOPIC LUNCH (in person) on Monday, December 4th, 2023. Lisa Locke, former Director of Delaware Interfaith Power and Light will lead a discussion of inspiring stories from the book Love Your Mother - 50 States, 50 Stories and 50 Women United for Climate Justice. It is helpful, but not necessary, to read the book in advance.

Book Discussion & Climate Conversation

In Love Your Mother, author Mallory McDuff has woven together the passions and creative initiatives of fifty women on a common mission...climate justice. Highlighting one from each state, she shares their stories. Lisa Locke, DeIPL’s previous executive director and program manager, and the Climate Conversations program she envisioned and developed, are showcased for Delaware. She will lead a discussion exploring the creative power of women in advocating for climate justice in Delaware.

You can read Lock'es reflection on Love Your Mother in an April 25, 2023 guest commentary published in the Cape Gazette: https://www.capegazette.com/article/reflection-‘love-your-mother’/257179.

Location

Join us for lunch! There is no buffet, so participants will order from a menu and pay individually for lunch. Please RSVP ahead of time so we can let the venue know how many to expect. (Call or email if you plan to attend: 302-571-8948 or lwvncc [at] comcast.net)

Applebee’s Restaurant at 900 Churchman’s Rd. is on the same stretch of road as now-closed Michaels Restaurant where we held our Hot Topics pre-COVID, but is one position closer to the main road exits. It is directly in front of the Hampton Inn, across the street from the big Christiana Hilton Hotel.
