April 9th Election Information
The City of Newark has a scheduled election for Council Districts 3, 5 and 6 on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.
Any individual who is at least 18 years old and is registered to vote with the State of Delaware at a residence within the district boundaries is eligible to vote in Newark City Council elections.
Districts 5 and 6, in the northern portion of the city, have a single candidate each: the incumbents Jason Lawhorn and Travis McDermott, respectively. Therefore these candidates will assume office automatically and no election will be held in district 5 or 6.
District 3 covers the south-west portion of Newark, as shown in this Newark City Council Election District map. Three candidates have filed for the District 3 seat: Jay Bancroft, Russell Zehnacker, and Bryan Horsey. District 3 polling places will be determined closer to the date of the election.
