Unofficial results posted by the Town of Elsmere at the close of voting show Eric Thompson retaining his mayoral seat with 219 votes to Mr. Hurst's 215 votes, and Dawn DiBiaso taking the District 6 council seat with 77 votes over Mr. Shavico's 53 votes.

The Town of Elsmere's 2021 Biennial Municipal Election will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021. Two seats, Mayor and Council District 6, are contested.

Town residents who are at least 17 years old, are U.S. citizens, and have registered as a voter with the Department of Elections for New Castle County can vote in Elsmere town elections. Proof of  identity and address is required.

Absentee ballots are available from Town Hall for those who cannot be present to vote in person. In 2021, due to the COVID-19 state of emergency, all residents may vote absentee.
