Per Governor Caney's executive order on 3/24, this election was to have been rescheduled after May 15, 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak. However, solicition for candidates ended with two candidates for two open seats, so no election will be held in Townsend, Delaware in 2020.

Per the town website:

Solicitation of Candidates for the 2020 Townsend Election closed at 4:00 p.m. on June 18th, 2020. In accordance with Title 5 of the Town of Townsend Charter, there are two candidates for the two available Townsend Council Seats. Fulfillment of these Council Seats will be discussed at the next Town of Townsend Council meeting on 7/1/2020.

Annual municipal elections for the Town Council shall be held on the first Saturday in May. The Town Council shall have the power to declare no election in the event that only one candidate is available for each election position within the Town.
